Treasure Boxes
I call them Treasure Boxes because 1) they are art, therefore to be treasured, and 2) they can hold the special things you cherish. For me, they are the most perfect form of art -- useful and beautiful.
I begin with wooden boxes, many of them recycled, and decoupage them with a combination of carefully chosen papers, illustrations, photographs and other ephemera. They are then embellished with found objects such as vintage jewelry, ribbon, buttons and hardware. Once the box is finished -- inside and out -- the entire box is covered with a triple thick layer of varnish for a glossy and durable protective finish.
